Lint doesn't all stay in the lint screen. We clean dryer vents and dryers, clearing the lint that builds up in the duct, the outside vent, and the dryer itself, so hot, moist air can get out of the house the way it should.
Every load of laundry sends warm, damp, lint-filled air out through the dryer's exhaust duct to a vent on the outside of the house. The lint screen catches a lot of it, but not all. Over time lint collects in the duct, in bends and low spots, at the outside vent, and inside the dryer cabinet.
The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) warns that fires can occur when lint builds up in the dryer or in the exhaust duct, because lint can block airflow and cause excessive heat buildup. The CPSC recommends cleaning the lint screen before or after each load, cleaning the dryer vent and exhaust duct periodically, and having a qualified service person clean the interior of the dryer periodically.
That's the work we do. WOW brings 4 generations of chimney and exhaust cleaning and inspecting, and dryer vents and dryers are part of the exhaust we clean. We clear the vent run and the dryer, check that air is getting out at the outside vent, and show you anything that needs attention.

Time for a cleaning?
The CPSC notes that damp clothes after a normal cycle, or longer drying times, can be a sign the lint screen or exhaust duct is blocked.
A dryer that feels unusually hot on the outside, or a laundry room that heats up, may not be venting properly.
If the outside vent doesn't open while the dryer runs, exhaust air isn't getting out.
Lint collecting on the siding or vent cover means the duct is loaded with it.
Unusual smells when the dryer runs are worth checking right away.
Vents with long runs, many turns, or crushed sections collect lint faster.
How it works
No guesswork and no surprises. You know what's wrong and what it costs before any work begins. If we uncover more damage, we stop and get your approval first.

We look at the duct from the dryer to the outside vent, including the connection, bends, and the outside vent cover.
Lint is cleared from the duct, the outside vent, and the dryer.
We check that air is moving out at the outside vent and show you anything that needs repair, with an estimate before any repair work.
The CPSC recommends cleaning the dryer vent and exhaust duct periodically. How fast lint builds up depends on how much laundry you do and how long and bent the vent run is. If clothes are taking longer to dry, don't wait.
Both. We clean dryer vents and dryers.
It's a paid service visit. Call (586) 636-6424 and we'll give you pricing when you book.
Clean the lint screen before or after every load, as the CPSC recommends, but the screen doesn't catch everything. Lint that gets past it builds up in the duct, the vent, and the dryer itself.
